Preposition of place
Preposition of place คือคำบุพบทที่ใช้บอกสถานที่ที่สิ่งหรือบุคคลอยู่ เช่น
- หนังสืออยู่ บนโต๊ะ (The book is on the table.)
- แมวอยู่ ใต้เตียง (The cat is under the bed.)
- เขานั่ง ระหว่างเพื่อนสองคน (He sits between two friends.)
คำบุพบทที่ใช้บอกสถานที่มีหลายคำ แต่คำที่ใช้บ่อยที่สุดคือ in, on, และ at ซึ่งมีหลักการใช้งานดังนี้
- เราใช้ in กับสถานที่ที่มีพื้นที่ปิด เช่น in a room, in a car, in a box
- เราใช้ in กับประเทศ เมือง หรือสถานที่ใหญ่ๆ เช่น in Thailand, in Bangkok, in the park
- เราใช้ on กับสถานที่ที่มีพื้นผิว เช่น on the floor, on the wall, on the table
- เราใช้ on กับสถานที่ที่มีการเคลื่อนย้าย เช่น on a bus, on a train, on a plane
- เราใช้ at กับสถานที่ที่เป็นจุดหรือตำแหน่งเฉพาะ เช่น at the corner, at the door, at the bus stop
- เราใช้ at กับสถานที่ที่เป็นสถาบันหรือองค์กร เช่น at school, at work, at the hospital
